Reasons for Low Back Pain and Treatment
Low back pain can be a show stopper for many individuals. Sometimes, I hear as a practitioner a patient tell me “well, I’m just getting older. I guess I have to live with it”. No, no, no! I always tell my patients that I’m a wimp (it’s true). I don’t even like to be uncomfortable, never mind being in pain. I definitely don’t want you to live in pain as well.
There are many reasons for low back pain, including:
- acute injury
- degenerative processes
- poor sleep
- poor nutrition, and many others
I will get technical for just a moment and then tell you how your Chiropractor can help you. Your sore back can be a result of tissue damage, joint/facet dysfunction, degenerative disc disease, herniated discs. These are all very common and very treatable.
Consulting your Chiropractor to work with you on an individual plan for you is imperative to get back to your every day life and maintain it.
I’ve also heard that once you see a Chiropractor you need to go for the rest of your life. Correct, just not three times a week for the rest of your life!
Your Chiropractor should evaluate your low back problem, the severity. He/she will then be able to discuss manipulating the spine for realignment and deduction of pain. He/she can then recommend exercises and proper nutrition to help keep your joints moving freely and painlessly the way they were designed to move. The goal is once your spine is moving the way it’s supposed to be to have you get adjusted periodically to keep it that way.
Chiropractors utilize many methods to treat low back pain. We usually use a combination of methods, including soft tissue and spinal manipulation, electric stimulation, ultrasound, diet recommendations, heat/ice, as well as an exercise plan to strengthen your CORE.
